Stargate Universe

The working title of the third Stargate series is Stargate Universe. Executive producer Robert C. Cooper unveiled the name in an interview with GateWorld.

The new series is not a spin-off of SG-1 or Atlantis. Like the other series it will also set in this era, not a prequal nor a far future Stargate program.
Although the series will be a completely separate entity from SG-1 and Atlantis, it will be unmistakably Stargate. "It certainly plays into the mythology that has been pre-established," Cooper said. "But it doesn't directly relate to anything that has been in either series."

Universe deals with ninth chevron

Cooper told fans that the new series includes the Stargate's ninth chevron. "It plays a major factor in the third series," Cooper said in response to a fan's question about the significance of the ninth chevron. "So that question is answered!"

Cooper also said that Universe "is very active in development". The goal is to premiere the seriesin early 2008, which means writing will start soon.
